The checks that matter
- Electrical path: verify the live feed, downstream distribution, and any transfer or bypass behavior.
- UPS status: confirm runtime, alarms, bypass condition, and battery health.
- Generator readiness: verify start capability and whether the site would recover correctly if utility support drops again.
- Cooling impact: check whether the remaining electrical path is now carrying more load than expected.
- Controls and alarms: make sure the BMS, monitoring, and work-order records reflect the real state.
Why the sequence matters
Feed failures can spread beyond the electrical room if operators look only at the first alarm. A site that understands the cross-dependencies can catch the early signs of strain before cooling or controls start to cascade.
That is why the check order should move from power to exposure to cooling to escalation. It keeps the team focused on what the surviving path can still support.
Simple rule
If the remaining side is healthy, protect it. If the remaining side is strained, reduce risk. If the remaining side is uncertain, escalate before the problem spreads.
